      2019 Tribal Maternal, Infant and Child Health Symposium

      The 2019 Tribal Maternal, Infant and Child Health Symposium is being hosted by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.  This year's symposium will feature sessions based on the results of the ND Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System(PRAMS). Learn what mothers in tribal communitites said about prenatal care, pregnancy and post natal care, and hear about approaches to support successful maternal, infant and child health in tribal communitites. We are excited to be joined this year by Rain McNeil from the California Rural Indian Health Board.  Rain will be presenting a session exploring laternal oppression and the impact on maternal,infant and child health.   Brook Bender,CHR Program Manager, Hualapai Tribe, will be joining us to talk about the vital role Community Health Representatives (CHR) can play in supporting healthy pregnancies and successful parenting.  Attendees are invited to attend a dinner and cultural fitness demonstrations event the first night of the conference.  This is event is free to attend and is hosted by the CDC High Obesity Grant Program.  Learn more about the work the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Turtle Mountan Band of Chippewa Indians are doing to reduce obesity in thier communitities.  If you plan to attend, please also register for this event when you register for the sympsium.  A block of rooms will be reserved at the Prairie Knight's Casino and Lodge at a conferene rate.
