      UL Lafayette Special Collections Journalism Event

      University of Louisiana at Lafayette Special Collections is proud to host the event The Lafayette Guide: Alton Broussard and the Early Days of Lafayette Journalism. This event will include a presentation and discussion of journalism and the media coverage during the turbulent 1960s and 70s in Lafayette. Topics include the Civil Rights movement and the French Renaissance, which were documented in the local newspaper the Lafayette Guide, edited by former UL Lafayette journalism professor Alton E. Broussard. At the event, his family will donate his collection of papers of the Lafayette Guide newspaper to the UL Lafayette Special Collections.   The event will be held Thursday November 21, 2019 from 5:30pm-8:00pm in the Jefferson Caffery Reading Room, 3rd floor of Edith Garland Dupré Library.
