While Chicago has been a beloved and hit musical since it debuted in 1975, it has gained even more momentum in recent years thanks to exposure from the acclaimed film adaptation in 2002. The movie only highlighted the musical's hugely popular list of songs, elaborate and flashy dance numbers, and an important lesson about celebrity that remains timeless. For all these reasons and more, the current production of Chicago is the longest running revival on Broadway and the musical itself is the fifth longest running show in Broadway history. Those that haven't seen Chicago shouldn't wait another day to see it, and those that haven't shouldn't miss another opportunity to see one of the musicals that has made Broadway what it is today.

When chorus girl Roxie Hart is convicted of murdering her lover and patron, she's sent to jail with other starlets who are locked up for murder. She soon discovers that it's not such a bad thing, as being a celebrity and a murderer is the ideal promotional tool. There she meets Velma Kelly, who is also in jail for murder and planning for her big return to vaudeville after her high profile lawyer, Billy Flynn, gets her out. Soon, Roxie begins to outshine Velma and steals Billy as her lawyer, only to lose anything when a bigger story comes along. Velma and Roxie soon form a bond, but Roxie hatches a plan to get back on top by falsely declaring that she's pregnant. It looks as though Roxie will get out of jail, but will her desire for celebrity get the best of her?

Chicago is currently playing at the Ambassador Theater on Broadway, the Cambridge Theatre on London's West End, and has both a US and UK national tour currently running. None of these productions are showing any signs of stopping, leaving audiences plenty of chances to catch a Broadway musical with tremendous staying power.
