      Festival de San Agustin

Celebrating the birthday of Pedro Menendez de Aviles, founder of Saint Augustine, The Historic Florida Militia hosts a weeklong celebration with reenactments, a documentary film, and a lively and colorful Paseo parade featuring large papier-mâché heads and historically clad participants. On February 8th, enjoy the “Noche de Festival,” a spectacular party showcasing the sights, sounds and tastes of St. Augustine’s Spanish heritage. Close out the week’s festivities with demonstrations and activities from the Spanish colonial period of the 16th century including weapons demonstrations, artillery, armor, clothing, crafts, culinary arts, and religious practices from St. Augustine’s early history.
